The place

Why Riviera Maya?

The Riviera Maya stretches along the Caribbean from Cancún to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere. With turquoise waters, ancient cenotes, Mayan ruins, and the world’s second-largest reef, it’s Mexico’s most diverse coastline. A private villa with chef and concierge lets you explore Chichén Itzá, swim in cenotes, and snorkel Akumal — all without lifting a finger.

Villa Experience has curated luxury villa rentals across the Riviera Maya since 2006 — from jungle-chic estates in Tulum and oceanfront villas in Playa del Carmen to family retreats in Akumal and Puerto Aventuras. Daily housekeeping and a dedicated concierge come with every home — chefs and butlers are included at most villas and arranged at the rest — and our local concierge team knows the best cenotes, beach clubs, and hidden restaurants along the coast.

Guest reviews

In their words.

This house and its incredible team exceeded our wildest expectations in every conceivable way. We came to celebrate my 40th birthday with a group of six friends, and what we experienced was nothing short of magical.

The property is exactly as pictured, which is what sold me on staying there, but it is even better than that! The property is so expansive; there are so many places to be and relax and enjoy the beauty. Apart from the idyllic setting, the staff are who made this trip so extraordinary.

We could not have been happier with the decision to stay at this place… We would absolutely stay here again and bring more friends along. Even the management was very accommodating and asked us for things we didn’t even think about.

Frequently asked

Answered plainly.

01What are the best locations for a luxury villa in the Riviera Maya?

The Riviera Maya stretches along Mexico's Caribbean coast from Cancun to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere, and each area has a different character. Tulum offers bohemian-chic beachfront villas surrounded by jungle, cenotes, and Mayan ruins. Playa del Carmen is ideal for guests who want nightlife, shopping on Quinta Avenida, and beach clubs. Akumal is known for sea-turtle snorkeling and a quieter family atmosphere. Puerto Aventuras has a private marina and swim-up beaches. Cancun's Hotel Zone offers the most variety in dining and entertainment. Your concierge will help match the right area to your travel style.

02When is the best time to visit the Riviera Maya?

The dry season from January through April offers the best weather: sunny skies, low humidity, and temperatures around 80–86°F (27–30°C). This is peak season, so book early. The shoulder months of May and November offer warm weather with fewer crowds and lower rates — May is also the start of whale-shark season off Isla Holbox and Isla Mujeres. The rainy season runs from June through October, with brief afternoon showers that rarely last long. Be aware that sargassum (seaweed) can affect some Caribbean beaches from May through September, though many properties clean their beaches daily.

03What's included in a Riviera Maya villa rental — chef, butler & concierge?

Every Riviera Maya villa booked through Villa Experience includes daily housekeeping and a dedicated concierge. Most villas also include a private chef or cook — typically two to three meals per day, with groceries at cost — and where the chef isn’t included, your advisor arranges one, priced clearly before you book. Many villas also include a butler, pool attendant, and garden staff. Your concierge arranges cenote tours, Chichén Itzá day trips, snorkeling at Akumal and the Mesoamerican Reef, catamaran charters to Isla Mujeres, Tulum ruins visits, and in-villa spa treatments. Grocery provisioning before your arrival is available on request.

04How do I choose the right villa for my Riviera Maya vacation?

Start with location: Tulum for bohemian jungle retreats, Playa del Carmen for nightlife and dining, Akumal for family snorkeling, Puerto Aventuras for marina access, or Cancun for resort-style variety. Then consider group size, budget, and must-haves like beachfront access, a private pool, or event space. We recommend telling our team your priorities and letting us send a curated shortlist — we know every property and can match you based on firsthand experience. We also help with villas for weddings, milestone birthdays, and yoga retreats.

05Are Riviera Maya villas suitable for weddings and events?

Yes. Many of our Riviera Maya villas are designed for celebrations, with beachfront terraces, garden event spaces, and capacities from 20 to 100+ guests. Tulum and Playa del Carmen are especially popular for destination weddings. Your concierge coordinates with local wedding planners, caterers, florists, DJs, and photographers. We handle logistics from rehearsal dinners and welcome parties to the ceremony and reception. Some villas have hosted hundreds of events — we'll recommend the right property based on your guest count and vision.
