Why Soliman Bay?

Soliman Bay is a quiet, palm-lined crescent of Caribbean beach between Tulum and Akumal, widely considered the Riviera Maya’s best-kept secret for luxury beachfront villa stays. A natural offshore reef creates a protected lagoon with calm, crystal-clear turquoise water — ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and snorkeling directly from shore. Unlike Tulum’s Beach Zone, Soliman Bay has virtually no commercial development, no beach clubs, and no crowds — just a handful of private villas lining the sand, surrounded by tropical vegetation and gentle Caribbean breezes.

Soliman Bay’s appeal is its exceptional privacy and natural beauty. Villas sit directly on the beach or just behind it, many with private piers extending over the reef lagoon. The water is calm enough for small children to wade and swim safely — a rarity on the Riviera Maya’s more exposed coastline. Despite its secluded feel, Soliman Bay is just 15 minutes north of Tulum town and 10 minutes south of Akumal (famous for swimming with sea turtles). Cancún International Airport (CUN) is approximately 75 minutes north. The bay is easily reached via a turnoff from Highway 307, making day trips to Tulum ruins, cenotes, Cobá, and Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve simple to arrange.

Frequently asked

Answered plainly.

01Where is Soliman Bay?

Soliman Bay is located on the Caribbean coast between Tulum and Akumal in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, about 15 minutes north of Tulum town and 10 minutes south of Akumal. It’s accessed via a turnoff from Highway 307. Cancún International Airport (CUN) is approximately 75 minutes north, and Playa del Carmen is about 40 minutes north.

02What makes Soliman Bay different from Tulum Beach Zone?

Soliman Bay offers far more privacy and seclusion than Tulum’s Beach Zone. There are no beach clubs, restaurants, or commercial development on the bay — just private villas on a protected reef lagoon. The water is calmer and shallower, making it better for swimming and families with children. Tulum Beach Zone offers a more social, bohemian atmosphere with restaurants and nightlife nearby. Many guests choose Soliman Bay for daytime privacy and visit Tulum for evening dining.

03What services are included in a Soliman Bay villa rental?

Every Soliman Bay villa booked through Villa Experience includes a private chef or cook (2–3 meals per day, groceries at cost), daily housekeeping, and a dedicated concierge. Many villas include a butler and pool attendant. Your concierge arranges snorkeling with sea turtles at Akumal, cenote tours, Tulum and Cobá ruins excursions, Sian Ka’an Biosphere trips, fishing charters, spa treatments, and airport transfers from CUN.

04Is Soliman Bay good for snorkeling and water activities?

Excellent — Soliman Bay’s protected reef lagoon is one of the Riviera Maya’s best spots for snorkeling directly from shore. The calm, shallow water is also ideal for paddleboarding, kayaking, and swimming. Akumal Bay (10 minutes north) is famous for sea turtle encounters. Deeper reef diving and cenote diving are easily arranged through your concierge, and the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — the world’s second-largest — runs just offshore.

Guest reviews

In their words.

The property is exactly as pictured, which is what sold me on staying there, but it is even better than that! The property is so expansive; there are so many places to be and relax and enjoy the beauty. Apart from the idyllic setting, the staff are who made this trip so extraordinary.

This is a fantastic home with amazing staff. We celebrated my fiancé’s 30th birthday party here with a large group of 16. Everything was perfectly arranged and we had an absolute blast. Definitely stay here if you can!

We could not have been happier with the decision to stay at this place… We would absolutely stay here again and bring more friends along. Even the management was very accommodating and asked us for things we didn’t even think about.
