Villa Iguana

I loved this place! Secluded and beautiful. Great family getaway. We hired full-time cooks, and the food was fabulous. Breeze and sea were incredible. If you want to get away from the crowds and enjoy peace, this is the place, pool, awesome view, awesome house, close to Tulum, hammocks, beach chairs, etc. We went with another family and felt special and very safe.

We had 8 adults in our group; family and friends. This was the perfect vacation! Beautiful villa, a few steps to the beach, gorgeous landscaping, outdoor furniture was top of the line, kayaks, snorkeling, nice walking beach (wear sandals or water shoes because the little shells are sharp (some of our friends had tougher feet than we did and didn't need them). The best advice is to hire the chef (we loved Manuel). The food was unbelievable! All you have to do is meet with Antonio and choose your menu for three days, then meet again for the following days; they purchase the food, give you the receipts, and you pay them for the food they bought. Then your biggest decision is whether to go out to a restaurant for either lunch or dinner or stay at home for another wonderfully prepared meal! We never left the compound! Beautifully sculpted centerpieces of fruit and vegetables that look like birds or flowers (each creation is a piece of art!). Villa Iguana is a perfect place to start memories with family and friends; a yearly trip will be a well-anticipated vacation.

This was a vacation of a lifetime. I just changed my computer's wallpaper to a picture of the backyard and Soliman Bay because it does not look real. This is a true Mayan Riviera Villa. A lush, tropical garden greets you as you stroll up to the front door of the main house. Along the way, there is a small one-bedroom guest house that has two queen beds, a bathroom, and a small but functional kitchen. The on-site staff is friendly, helpful, and very good at their job. Never interfering but always available, Mynar and Claudia were the best. Always wearing a smile, they were willing to put up with our broken Spanish. The house is well laid out and spacious. The 3rd-floor bedroom has a king bed, a bathroom, and an outdoor dining area that is the jewel to this Mayan Riviera crown. The star gazing upon the 3rd floor is magical. The 2nd floor has two large bedrooms, each with a king bed and their own bathroom. They also each have a balcony with a view of the backyard and Caribbean Ocean/Soliman Bay beyond. The main floor is a king bedroom, a bathroom, kitchen, dining area, and living room. Then, you open up the giant slider doors and step outback. This is why you come to Villa Iguana and Soliman Bay. A perfectly sized chlorinated pool off the spacious outdoor dining area complements a row of chaise lounges with a small palapa. Just outside the downstairs bedroom is a small sitting area. A few more steps towards the water, and one step down, you have an outdoor living room—chairs, table, couches, and a bench all facing the green and blue waters of the bay. We had morning coffee here as we watched the turtle heads pop up for air 50-100 yards offshore. Then you come to the palapa, the hammocks, and the chaise lounges that are so close to the water you can almost put your foot in to feel the 84 degrees Soliman Bay. We were lucky enough to meet with Chef Antonio from TulumChef.com. He paired us with Chef Jose and Danny, and they prepared our meals for us the week of our stay. They were friendly, helpful, and cleaned up when they were done! As great as Villa Iguana is, this was a special treat, and we cannot stress enough how enjoyable our stay was in tandem with TulumChef.com. They did not pay me for that endorsement unless you count homemade guacamole and pico de gallo as payment. They were amazing. Everyone at our party had a great time. Relaxing, snorkeling, reading, talking, catching up, eating, sleeping, writing, walking the beach, drinking, and reflecting were all easier because of Villa Iguana.
