About The Villa

Villa Iguana is a charming beachfront retreat set along the tranquil shores of Soliman Bay, a sheltered Caribbean cove between Akumal and Tulum on the Riviera Maya coast. This intimate villa offers a peaceful escape surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, with direct access to the calm turquoise waters of one of the region’s most beautiful and unspoiled bays. The villa’s relaxed design embraces indoor-outdoor Caribbean living, with spacious terraces and outdoor areas that invite long, lazy days by the water.

Comfortably appointed bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and air conditioning provide restful retreats after days spent snorkeling the reef, kayaking across the bay, or exploring the nearby cenotes and Mayan ruins. The fully equipped kitchen is ready for meal preparation, and professional chef services can be arranged to elevate your stay with authentic regional cuisine served in the comfort of your villa.

Soliman Bay’s calm, shallow waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, with a vibrant reef system just offshore that shelters an abundance of marine life. The bay’s secluded setting provides a level of privacy and natural beauty that larger resort beaches simply cannot match. Sea turtles, rays, and tropical fish are regular visitors to these protected waters.

Daily housekeeping and concierge services ensure a comfortable and carefree stay. The charming towns of Akumal and Tulum are each just a short drive away, offering restaurants, shops, cenotes, and cultural attractions. Playa del Carmen’s vibrant Fifth Avenue is within thirty minutes, and the Cancun International Airport is approximately ninety minutes north along the coast highway.

The actual iguanas are the property’s unofficial mascots. Best part — five bedrooms in a jungle setting, pool, cook who makes beautiful simple meals, we did nothing in a hurry, biked to the beach, walked to town, read in the garden, the open-air design means you’re connected to nature — that includes insects at dusk. The cook’s tamales were the best thing I ate in Mexico.

The details are what you notice — the quality of the linens, the way the shutters catch the breeze, the garden lighting at dusk. Someone thought carefully about this place. The cook made meals that matched — considered, not showy. We appreciated the intention.

Named after the iguanas and there are actual iguanas here — the garden is alive with them. My son named the biggest one Carlos and tracked his movements all week. No ocean view, no pool — just dense Tulum jungle, a cook who made Yucatecan food with patience and skill, and the kind of quiet that city people forget exists. The cook’s panuchos were the best thing I ate in Mexico. We biked to cenotes, walked to the beach, explored ruins. My wife said she hasn’t slept that well in five years. The jungle does something to you.
