Villa Ceiba

Villa Ceiba, also known as Selva 34, stands in the jungle-side neighbourhood of Selva near the centre of the Punta Mita peninsula. Four bedrooms sleep ten. The house is contemporary in line but soft in material — woven palapa ceilings, lime-plastered walls, stone floors and slatted timber screens — and it is set deep enough into the planting that the balconies look into canopy rather than at neighbours. The effect is less resort villa than treehouse with a concierge.

Living and dining occupy one volume that opens through full-height sliding glass onto a covered terrace, and from there onto a private pool in landscaped garden with a firepit alongside for the evenings. Bedrooms are distributed for privacy rather than arranged in a row. Three hold king beds and one holds two queen beds; three of them open to balconies of their own, and one takes a planted courtyard as its outlook. A fourth bedroom carries a built-in desk, which makes it the natural choice for anyone working part of the week. Five bathrooms serve the house, finished in the same palette of pale plaster and warm wood that runs through the rest of the plan.

Daily housekeeping is included, as is a personal concierge who handles the planning before arrival. A private chef, butler, bartender, pre-arrival grocery stocking, in-villa spa and wellness treatments, transportation and additional golf-cart rental are available at further cost. The stay carries a Premier Golf Membership at Club Punta Mita, opening the private beach clubs at Pacifico, Kupuri, Sufi and the St Regis, the two Jack Nicklaus Signature courses, the tennis, pickleball and paddle courts, the fitness centre and the pilates studio, with preferential tee times on both. A four-passenger golf cart comes with the house.

From Selva the rest of the peninsula is a short ride in almost every direction: the beach clubs and golf clubhouse one way, the marina and the El Anclote surf break another. Punta de Mita town and its restaurants are around ten minutes, Sayulita twenty-five by road, and Puerto Vallarta International Airport roughly forty. The Marietas Islands, a protected reserve reached by boat from the marina, make a straightforward half-day excursion.
