Suite Pinas – Los Guajes

Suite Pinas occupies an upper floor at Casa Los Guajes, the villa of five independent bungalows in Costa Cumana a short drive south of Puerto Escondido. It is the suite that suits a family: two queen beds and a generous daybed, which makes room for two adults and two children without anyone sleeping on a makeshift bed. The terrace outside looks straight out to the ocean, with the villa’s paths and gardens below, and the stair up to it keeps the suite private from the common areas.

The bathroom is private to the suite. Meals can be taken at the villa’s dining table, under a palapa or brought up to the terrace, which is often the easiest arrangement with children in the party.

Casa Los Guajes is organised around open common areas rather than corridors. A living and dining space sits at the centre, leading to a modern kitchen where the villa’s chef cooks and a service team lays the tables, and beyond them are the pool terraces and palapas facing the water. Paths lined with tropical plants and small fountains connect the five suites to those spaces, and each keeps its own entrance. Chef and bar service, airport transfers and daily housekeeping are all included in the rate.

The setting is semi-tropical, so palms and bougainvillea grow among cactus and the beach below the property stays quiet through most of the year, which makes it easy going for children. Puerto Escondido is a few kilometres north with its surf, its fishing boats and the restaurants at La Punta, the beaches at Mazunte and Zipolite lie under an hour south, and Puerto Escondido International Airport is a short drive.
