Suite El Ranchito is the two-bedroom bungalow at Casa Los Guajes, the villa of five independent suites in Costa Cumana a short drive south of Puerto Escondido. It stands on the ground floor and functions as a small house of its own: two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a sitting area between them and a terrace in front, which makes it the natural choice for a family or for two couples travelling together who would rather not share a room, and it is the only suite on the property with two bedrooms under one roof.
Each bedroom holds a queen bed dressed in naturally coloured linen, with a bathroom of its own. The sitting area between them is open and breezy with a ceiling fan turning above it, and a refrigerator keeps drinks and provisions to hand. The terrace outside is the part that gets used: a quiet corner for a meal, a drink at the end of the day or an hour with the ocean in view, with the villa’s gardens running away below it. Both bedrooms open to the same sitting area, so the bungalow can be closed off from the rest of the property entirely when the group wants a quiet evening.
The bungalow shares the common areas of Casa Los Guajes. At the centre of the property are open living and dining spaces and a modern kitchen where the villa’s chef cooks and a team serves, with pool terraces beside them and palapas set toward the water for the middle of the day. Paths through tropical planting and past small fountains connect the suites, so guests move between their own front door and the common spaces through the garden rather than along a corridor. Chef and bar service, airport transfers and daily housekeeping are included in the rate.
Costa Cumana is semi-tropical: palms and bougainvillea grow alongside cactus, and the beach below the property is empty for most of the year. Puerto Escondido lies a few kilometres north with the surf at Zicatela, the fishing boats at Puerto Angelito and the restaurants of La Punta, while Mazunte and Zipolite are under an hour south along the coast road, and Puerto Escondido International Airport is a short drive.
