Casa Tauro

Casa Tauro sits above the sand in Costa Careyes, on the Jalisco coast where the jungle of the Sierra runs down to white beaches and the nearest town is small enough to walk in ten minutes. Six suites sleep twelve, spread between the main house and a two-level bungalow set among the palms. The architecture is contemporary and low, built in local materials and stepped down the slope so that each terrace looks over the one below it to the water, and the estate is only ever let to one group at a time.

The Venado Suite takes the second floor with a king bed, an ensuite bathroom and a private terrace facing the ocean. The Jabali Suite sits on the main floor, reachable without stairs, hung with work by Claudio Limon and opening to the same view. The Conejo Suite is on the garden level with direct beach access and a terrace among the planting. In the Casita Palmar bungalow, the Puma Suite upstairs holds a king bed, a living room with two twin beds, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a private terrace with its own pool, while the Tortuga Suite below holds a king bed, a bathroom with a double shower and a balcony onto the beach. Each suite has air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a safe, high-speed internet, a Bose speaker, a minibar, a desk and a yoga mat.

Indoors there are gourmet kitchens with professional appliances, a media room, rooftop dining under the open sky and spaces set aside for yoga. Outside, two infinity pools sit in tropical planting, with lounge areas facing the ocean, rooftop terraces for the evening and private gardens for a morning practice. The beach is directly below. A resident team handles daily housekeeping, the cooking and the concierge arrangements, and will set up a beach dinner, a rooftop barbecue or a sunset picnic; transport, setup and event coordination are run by the same team.

The estate is used often for weddings, and it has two beaches for them: Playa Tauro, which takes up to four hundred guests, and the smaller Play-ita, which suits ceremonies of up to a hundred and fifty. Because the property is let exclusively, the whole event is built around one group, with catering, decoration, entertainment and security arranged through vendors the house works with. Playa Rosa, the Careyes Polo Club and the village restaurants are all within a quarter of an hour, and Manzanillo International Airport about ninety minutes.
