Oaxaca coast · Nine bays and the sierra behind them

The best day out of Huatulco is the Waterfalls Adventure and Local Cuisine, which climbs into the mountains for cacao, coffee and mezcal before the falls and a long lunch. Closer in it is the National Park Hiking and Snorkeling Tour to Cacaluta bay, and an evening walk round La Crucecita.

Frequently asked

Answered plainly

Is there a best time of year?

Not one our catalogue states; all four of these run year round. The waterfalls are fullest after the summer rains, and the national park hike is easier early in the day whatever the month.

Which suit families?

The waterfall day and the town tour both work with children, though the first is eight hours. The national park hike is four hours on foot through jungle and suits older children upward.

Which tours leave the bays?

Two. The waterfalls day and the Three Levels coffee day both drive up into the Sierra Madre del Sur and take six to eight hours. The park hike and the town tour stay local.

How does booking work?

These book on GetYourGuide. We pick them and keep the list checked; the operator holds the booking and the cancellation terms. We earn a commission on the links, and the page says so at the bottom.
