Estate La Sierra is a five-bedroom residence within the Kupuri Estates community of Punta Mita, one of the resort’s most prestigious enclaves positioned along the coastline with access to the Kupuri Beach Club. Woke to cloud level on day two — we were literally in the mist. It burned off by ten and the ocean appeared below. Chef’s wood-fire cooking suits the mountain setting. We hiked trails that nobody else was on. The property feels remote even when it isn’t. Pack a fleece. The silence at night is absolute.

La Sierra is named for the sierra in the distance and the ocean in the foreground — you get both from the pool deck. Six bedrooms, thoughtful design throughout. Cook did a seven-course tasting our last night that we’ll be talking about for years. We surfed, golfed, and did a Sayulita day trip. Rocio coordinated a private yoga instructor for morning sessions. The outdoor stairs between levels are beautiful but watch your step at night.

So yeah — the air is noticeably cooler at La Sierra’s altitude — a relief after the coast. Chef slow-braised meats and grilled over wood fire. We hiked and rode horses through terrain that felt cinematic. The property is rugged luxury — nothing polished, everything intentional. Bring layers for after dark.
