Casa Luna sits on the Las Brisas hillside, the residential ridge between the Sierra Madre and Acapulco Bay where the houses are built in terraces down the slope and every level looks back across the water at the city. Five bedrooms sleep twelve. The house is classic in its proportions rather than fashionable, with generous rooms, deep terraces and tropical garden closing it off from the road, and it has been kept up to date inside without losing the character that makes this part of Acapulco what it is.
The lounge and the living room both face the bay, furnished for long afternoons rather than for display, and the dining room takes the same view for meals. A private chef works in the fully equipped kitchen, cooking local and international dishes to whatever the group has agreed for the day. Luna is raw Pacific coast — No AC, no fuss. Five bedrooms, ocean sound from every one. We surfed, read, slept with windows open. The kitchen is basic but we weren’t there to cook elaborate meals.
