The neighborhood
Why Sayulita?
Punta Sayulita occupies Punta Tokipa, a thirty-three-acre private peninsula of tropical shoreline a few minutes south of the town. The houses there are built into the hillside and the jungle is left standing around them — one of them has two indigenous papilla trees rising straight through its terrace deck, kept where they stood when the house was built. Residents and their guests use the Punta Sayulita Beach Club on the point.
On the other side of town, the Northside rises above the bay on Calle Loma Alta. The villa there is built for small groups and quiet weeks — terraces wide enough for yoga in the morning, a jacuzzi-style pool facing the ocean, and the whole sweep of Sayulita bay and its headland in front of it.
