The bay

Shallow coves, a long way north.

Balandra Bay is in La Paz, Baja California Sur, about 120 miles (193 km) north of Los Cabos. This Balandra Beach tour from Cabo San Lucas takes you up by van, a drive of about two hours, to the Pichilingue marina, where a catamaran spends four hours in and around the bay.

The bay is a run of shallow coves and beaches around El Hongo, the Mushroom Rock. You see the rock from the boat, pass the sea lion colony at San Rafaelito, snorkel in one of the coves, and have free time on a quiet beach such as Gaviota to swim and kayak.

Balandra is a protected bay of shallow turquoise water and mangroves outside La Paz, Baja California Sur.

Our take
“With four hours on the water and about four on the road, this is for guests who want to see Balandra itself. For a snorkel day closer to the villa, the two-bay snorkel cruise from Cabo San Lucas is the easier choice.”

Before you set off, our concierge arranges your transfer to the marina office, so nobody has to drive.
