Villa Amada again. The pool’s afternoon light still draws us back. Five bedrooms, chef this time. We cooked and ate at beach clubs. Surfed, read, lounged. Quiet corner of Punta Mita. Albriet helped with reservations. The garden shade continues to improve — trees maturing beautifully.

The hammock became the most contested piece of furniture. The pool remains the draw — its position, its depth, the way afternoon light transforms it. Five bedrooms, chef this time, we cooked and ate at beach clubs. Surfed once, read the rest of the week. Quiet corner of Punta Mita. Albriet helped with golf reservations. The garden is more established than our first visit — shade is better now.

We chose this part of Punta Mita deliberately — set back from the beach scene, residential, quiet. The cook made dinner every evening and we ate on the terrace watching the sky change. Surfed a few mornings, golf-carted to the beach club one afternoon, otherwise stayed close to the house. The pool caught late afternoon light beautifully. My partner read two books in four days. I read half of one and napped the rest. Sometimes the best thing you can do is nothing at all.

A colleague called Villa Amada ‘aggressively peaceful’ and he’s right. The design, the garden, the sound design (birdsong, water, zero traffic) all conspire to slow your heart rate. Chef’s food matched — not rich, not complex, just beautiful ingredients prepared simply. We needed this.
